The Vorontsov Palace in Yalta, owned by Count Vorontsov, the governor-general of the Novorossiysk region, was conceived as his summer residence. Initially, the castle was built in the English style, but later the project was altered to include Eastern elements. A distinctive feature of the palace is the southern terrace, adorned with fountains and vases, as well as marble lions on the staircase leading to the sea.

The palace consists of five buildings, which house 150 rooms. The dining room was built first, not the central building, followed by the Shuvalov wing, which accommodated guests and the count's son-in-law; it later became a billiard room. In the park, special attention is drawn to the Swan Lake, the bottom of which is strewn with semi-precious stones, giving it a unique shine on sunny days.

After the count's death, the palace passed to his son and then to distant relatives. In 1921, the building became a museum, but during World War II, many exhibits were lost. In February 1945, during the Yalta Conference, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill stayed here with the English delegation.

In 1956, the museum reopened in the castle, and since 1990, the Alupka Palace and Park Museum-Reserve has been operating here.
