The monastery began its history as an architectural structure with the construction of a church. In 1987, Archimandrite Georgy (Savva), with the blessing of Bishop Isidor, who was then a bishop, headed the parish of the Holy Ascension Prayer House in Timashevsk. Father Georgy aimed to build a beautiful stone church despite numerous difficulties and oppression from the authorities, who did not allocate land and prohibited the construction of a full church. They had to settle for a plot on the outskirts of the city, where a house was purchased on marshy land. Father Georgy believed that this place, like St. Petersburg, built on a swamp, would become blessed.

Some doubted the choice of location, but the priest assured that over time it would become a center. Indeed, soon two microdistricts grew here. Local old-timers recalled that in the 1950s, a holy fool girl predicted the construction of a church and monastery in this lowland. This place became a symbol of the revival of faith, just like the Russian Church, which rose from the ashes.

After the completion of the church in 1991, Archimandrite Georgy planned to move to the Arkhangelsk Diocese, but illness delayed him. Bishop Isidor suggested opening a men's monastery in Timashevsk, and Father Georgy agreed. In June 1992, the Holy Spirit Men's Monastery was officially opened, and Archimandrite Georgy became its abbot.

The opening of the monastery coincided with a difficult time for Russia, when reforms and the transition to a market economy heavily impacted the population. The monastery also faced difficulties, but with the support of good people, it was possible to build a fence and buildings. Initially, there were twelve members in the brotherhood. The monastery followed the ancient rule of living off the labor of its hands. Thanks to the help of the authorities, the monastery was allocated almost three hundred hectares of land, which later increased to four hundred.

Today, the monastery engages in agriculture, growing grains, vegetables, and raising livestock. The brotherhood also performs various tasks and participates in services. Morning services begin at four in the morning and continue until the Divine Liturgy, with evening vespers held in the evening. About eighty people live in the monastery, fulfilling their obediences.

On the territory of the monastery, there are two churches: the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord and the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit.
