According to unconfirmed data, the number of Orthodox Christians in Indonesia is about 2000 people, many of whom are local indigenous residents. There are 9 clergy serving in the country, and several Orthodox churches exist. One of them, the Cathedral of Saint Thomas the Apostle, is located in Jakarta, where Father Boris is the rector.

The services in the church have their own peculiarities. Upon entering, parishioners remove their shoes, and women cover their heads with a scarf. Men and women stand separately: men on the right, women on the left. All parishioners have booklets with the texts of the Holy Liturgy and actively participate in the service, even reciting parts usually performed by the choir.

On November 3, 2019, a joint service of the clergy of the Indonesian mission took place at the Church of the Apostle Thomas. The day before, a decision was made to transition under the unified canonical jurisdiction of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia.
