At the end of 1910, the construction of a dairy factory owned by Alexander Chichkin was completed in Moscow, which became the largest in Europe. While European factories processed 10 to 30 tons of milk per day, this factory was designed to process 100-150 tons. Remarkably, the installation of equipment and the launch of operations took only one day, which was an unprecedented event.

Later, Chichkin opened another dairy factory in Odessa.

The construction of the factory in Moscow was driven by "production necessity." The owners of the site at Petrovka, 17, the Smirnov brothers, decided to demolish the apartment building where Chichkin's first store was located and build a new one. As a result, Chichkin moved his main store to the neighboring building at Petrovka, 19, and replaced the warehouses with modern production facilities.

To start, he sent his associate A. A. Popov, the future head of the design and construction of the factory, on a business trip across Europe to study dairy enterprises. The new factory began operations in 1910.

The factory could process up to 150 tons of milk per day and was essentially a complex that later became known as Moscow Dairy Plant No. 1. Here, they produced cottage cheese, sour cream, cheese, butter, baked milk, and ice cream. On the adjacent site, Chichkin built an apartment building where he rented out apartments mainly to factory specialists. Today, this building has been restored and is said to closely resemble the original. Chichkin himself moved closer to the factory from Tverskoy Boulevard, 9, to a large house at Novaya Basmannaya, 23, which was referred to in one of the advertisements as "his own house." The exact location of the house among the many buildings with this number has not yet been established. His office was also located there, and for a time, his brothers lived there.
