One of the ordinary square towers of the southern wall was built in the 1480s east of the Taynitskaya Tower. In the late 15th and 16th centuries, it stored gunpowder. In 1547, during a severe fire in Moscow, the tower was damaged due to a gunpowder explosion.

In the 17th century, the tower was raised with a second tier topped by a tent-like roof. Its four-sided tent is characterized by simplicity. In 1770-1771, the 1st Nameless Tower and the Taynitskaya were dismantled. By 1776-1783, the tower and the wall between it and the 2nd Nameless Tower were restored, possibly with a slight change in location.

In 1812, the tower was destroyed by the French but was restored in 1816-1835 under the guidance of O.I. Bove.

Inside the tower are two tiers of vaulted rooms. The lower tier has a cross vault, while the upper one is closed. The second tier opens into the cavity of the tent.

The height of the tower is 34.15 meters.
