In 2011, the residents of the city erected a memorial stone in honor of the heroes of the Kulikovo battle: the Borovsk prince Vladimir the Brave, Mikhail Brenk, and the Borovsk residents who, through their brave actions, essentially determined the outcome of the most important battle for Rus in the 14th century.

This memorial stone is located on a high steep bank of the river, offering a picturesque view of the Protva and the opposite bank.

In 1378, the Grand Duke of Moscow Dmitry granted Borovsk to his cousin, the Serpukhov prince Vladimir Andreyevich. From that moment on, Prince Vladimir and his descendants began to bear the title of Serpukhov-Borovsk.

In 1380, as the Tatar-Mongol forces approached Moscow, Prince Vladimir Andreyevich set out from Borovsk with his retinue to assist Grand Duke Dmitry and played a key role in the Kulikovo battle, commanding the Ambush Regiment. After this battle, he earned the nicknames 'Don' and 'Brave.' The feat of the boyar Mikhail Brenk is also well-known, as he exchanged armor with Grand Duke Dmitry before the battle, thus sacrificing himself.

The reign of Vladimir the Brave marked a golden age in the history of Borovsk. As a stronghold of the emerging Moscow state, the city fulfilled its role with dignity, and its residents actively participated in the development and strengthening of the country in its early history. The Kulikovo battle became the main affair of Prince Vladimir Andreyevich's life, but far from the only one.
