P.K. Sharapov Museum in Danilovo

Фото 1
The P.K. Sharapov Historical and Local History Museum continues the traditions of the People's Museum of the city of Danilovo, which was opened on September 15, 1967.

In the 1960s, an initiative group consisting of historian and local historian I.E. Beloselsky, local artist S.N. Serzhpinsky, and teacher of the city secondary school No. 2 P.K. Sharapov collected ancient items, materials, photographs, and memories related to the history of the Danilovo region. These individuals became the founders and first employees of the museum. At that time, the city authorities placed the museum in the House of Pioneers, which contributed to the increase of museum collections. Museum staff, along with workers from the House of Pioneers, organized expeditions throughout the Danilovo district, thanks to which the museum's funds now number over 21,000 exhibits.

The museum's collection introduces visitors to the history of the Danilovo land, its heroic past and present, crafts and trades, traditions and customs of the Danilovo district, as well as local nature, animals, and birds. Today, the museum is located in a building that is a monument of history and culture of federal significance. Previously, this building housed a male city school.
