The collection of wines from the Massandra winery is considered the largest in the world. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records and includes about a million bottles of domestic wine and 700 brands of foreign wine.

In 1826, Count Vorontsov acquired Massandra from the Potocki princes. Mikhail Semyonovich, who valued the fertile Crimean lands, wisely and economically arranged the vineyards and wine cellars in Gurzuf, Alupka, and Ai-Danil.

From the grapes grown in the Massandra estate, mainly table red and white wines were produced. Over time, production expanded, and new varieties emerged, including dessert wines.

After the count's death, Massandra and the Ai-Danil estate were acquired by the Department of the Imperial Court for further development of winemaking.

Over eight years, production significantly increased. The Department, acting as a seller, guaranteed high quality of the products, which was confirmed by the state coat of arms on the labels.

In 1892, the experienced Lev Sergeyevich Golitsyn became the chief winemaker. He had already successfully conducted business in the Russian and international markets, owning the estate of New World.

Under Golitsyn, Massandra became one of the leading winemaking estates in the world. Wide electrified tunnels with modern lifting machines were laid underground, where wine was aged in oak barrels. Nine galleries with stone niches could hold a million bottles.

Since 1898, visitors could taste wine in the cellars of Massandra and order their favorite batches. During the Soviet era, tasting halls were built next to the Vorontsov Palace.

Today, the Massandra winery produces over 60 brands of wine. Just like a hundred years ago, the wine undergoes a long journey from aging in oak barrels to the use of traditional winemaking methods before it is bottled.
