One of the oldest bridges in Kronstadt today is the Dock Bridge, built between 1854 and 1856 on the site of the wooden drawbridge known as the 'Humpback' bridge. It got its name 'Dock' due to its proximity to the Petrovsky dock. The bridge was designed by engineer Lieutenant Colonel Bogdanovsky, although some sources suggest he was assisted by Vice Admiral Makarov.

The construction of the bridge was carried out by the Berda factory with the participation of employees from the Kronstadt port. A distinctive feature of the design is the use of riveted connections, as welding technology was not sufficiently developed at that time. Soon after the bridge was opened, a cast-iron grille was installed up to the lock gates, manufactured by the Saint Petersburg Galvanoplastic and Mechanical Plant.

The Dock Bridge is unique in that it is the only drawbridge in Kronstadt and St. Petersburg that does not lift but rotates. Previously, when a ship needed to enter the dock, the bridge was moved aside, the vessel passed through, and the bridge was returned to its place. Currently, the dock is not in use, and the need for a drawbridge has disappeared, but it remains the only bridge in Kronstadt that can still be drawn.
