One of the rare architectural monuments of Rostov-on-Don is the apartment building built by Mr. Sivozhelezev in the 1910s. This building is unique in its Art Nouveau style, which was not widely spread in the modern Southern capital of Russia. To this day, only a few similar structures have survived. The Art Nouveau era was short-lived, and after the start of World War I in 1914, such houses ceased to be built. Therefore, the Sivozhelezev apartment building is important not only for the history of Rostov-on-Don but also for the entire architectural style.

Mr. Sivozhelezev, the owner of the house, initially managed the printing house of the well-known southern Russian newspaper "Priazovsky Krai," and then founded his own printing house with a binding workshop called "Partnership on Faith 'S.S. Sivozhelezev and Co.'"

After the arrival of Soviet power, Sivozhelezev's property was confiscated, and its further fate remains unknown. In the following years, the building, which was once an apartment house, fell into decline and began to deteriorate. No one thought about the fact that they were facing a unique monument of world architecture.

Unfortunately, even today, the former Sivozhelezev apartment building has not been restored, although it has already been included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance. Moreover, in 2018, local defenders of architectural monuments had to go to court to prevent changes to the historical appearance of the building's facade, which was planned to be "renovated."
