Church of Vasily of Ryazan in Murom

Фото 1
On the west side of the cathedral is the Abbot's building, constructed in 1687. This two-story brick structure is rectangular in shape, extending from north to south, and is executed in a very modest architectural style. The window frames made of molded brick are extremely simple. The architectural significance of the Abbot's building lies in the fact that it is the only surviving civil building from the 17th century in the city, which allows us to imagine what the residential houses of the urban nobility looked like at that time. A domestic church was arranged in honor of Saint Vasily of Ryazan. In 1996, in honor of this Murom-Ryazan saint, a church of Vasily of Ryazan was established and consecrated by Archbishop Evlogy of Vladimir and Suzdal in the monastery where he was tonsured.
