In a remote corner of Poshekhonye-Kukoboy, difficult to reach, a service took place, attended by Egyptians and Americans who arrived by tractor. Here, Father Ioann Shiryayev, known as the 'Esperanto Dostoevsky', served; he was one of the first writers in Esperanto.

On August 3, 2017, the youth department of the Resurrection Cathedral in Tutayev carried out a complex and responsible task of preparing the semi-ruined church in the village of Zinovyevo for the archbishop's service.

This village, which cannot be found on the map today, and the church, accessible only by tractor, are known thanks to Priest Ioann Shiryayev, who served here in the early last century. Father Ioann, known as the writer Ivan-Goremyka, wrote his works in the international language of Esperanto. Unfortunately, many of his works, including the translation of the Liturgy of John Chrysostom into Esperanto, have not survived, as have the translations of Tolstoy's 'War and Peace', 'Anna Karenina', and Dostoevsky's 'The Brothers Karamazov' into Esperanto. Father Ioann became one of the first writers to create works in Esperanto, earning him the nickname 'Esperanto Dostoevsky'.

This year, the Russian Esperanto Union decided to hold events in honor of the 140th anniversary of Father Ioann Shiryayev. Among them are the RoSE conference, a Summer University, Esperanto courses, concerts, and the 'First Shiryayev Readings'. A visit to the church in Zinovyevo, where Father Ioann served, was also planned.

Parishioners of the Resurrection Cathedral, led by Tikhon Krylov, reached the church in Zinovyevo by tractor, which was overgrown with trees and bushes, with piles of construction debris inside. The task was not easy, but the guys actively got to work, using the skills they acquired at the 'Transfiguration' gatherings, a new youth movement in the Yaroslavl Diocese.
