According to archival documents, a wooden church has been located on this site since 1510. In 1737, the construction of a stone temple began. The only altar of the church was consecrated in honor of the Origin of the Honorable Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord. The interior decoration of the temple was richly adorned, including a unique carved iconostasis with precious stones and pearls, which corresponded to the overall aesthetic of the estate. This church still remains part of the architectural and artistic ensemble of Kuskovo.

The Church of the Savior of All-Merciful in Kuskovo is considered one of the rare preserved monuments of Moscow in the style of "Annenburg Baroque," characteristic of the era of Anna Ioannovna.

The history of the temple is closely linked to the Romanov dynasty. Royal figures such as Empress Elizabeth Petrovna and Catherine II, Emperor Alexander III with his wife Maria Feodorovna and heir Nikolai Alexandrovich, as well as Emperor Nicholas II with his heir, prayed in the temple located in the Sheremetev estate.

In 1919, the Kuskovo estate became a State Museum, and the church building was converted into a storage facility. It remained in this state until 1991, when the church was consecrated again.

After a lengthy renovation, the temple reopened its doors to parishioners and received the status of a cultural heritage site of the Russian Federation.
