The village of Kudrino is located on the Unzha River, not far from the border of the Melenkovsky district with the Ryazan and Tambov provinces, 19 versts from the district town. This village and its parish villages are considered relatively new settlements in this region. In the patriarchal land books of the early 18th century, they are mentioned as "newly settled villages of the palace Unzha volost." According to local legends, the settlers arrived here from the Balakhninsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod province, and the village, founded on the wasteland of Kudrina, was named Kudrina.

On this wasteland, there once stood a church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, but by the beginning of the 18th century, only "church wasteland" remained. No information has survived about the time of its construction and desolation. In 1715, new settlers built a church in Kudrino in honor of St. Nicholas. A priest, a deacon, a sexton, and a prosphora baker were appointed to it; the parish included 22 peasant households. The peasants allocated 10 quarters of arable land and hay meadows for the clergy.

In 1768, the church in Kudrino burned down, but the church utensils, sacristy, icons, and liturgical books were saved. In its place, a new wooden church was built, consecrated in 1773 with the blessing of Bishop Hieronymus of Vladimir.

In 1831, due to the cramped conditions and dilapidation of the wooden church, the parishioners decided to build a stone temple. The construction was undertaken by the Department of Estates, which managed the peasants of Kudrino. They were provided with a plan and facade for the new church, and the peasants were subjected to a special tax. The collected funds were submitted to the guardianship council for accumulation until the necessary amount was reached.

The construction of the temple began in 1842 and was completed in 1846 under the supervision of architects from the Estate Department and the manager of the Vladimir Estate Office. The interior finishing took a long time: the main church was consecrated in 1851, and the side altar in 1864. In the same year, the wooden church was dismantled. The temple has two altars: the main one in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and the side altar in honor of the holy martyrs Flora and Lavra.

The church is sufficiently equipped with utensils, a sacristy, icons, and liturgical books, but there is nothing particularly ancient or valuable in it. The church archive contains a decree issued in 1768 by Bishop Paul of Vladimir for the construction of the new church. According to the staff, there are a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist at the church. The clergy have their own houses on church land.
