In the 18th century, a church was built near the Yenikale fortress in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with an altar dedicated to St. Nicholas, belonging to the Greek diocese. After the war, the church partially survived, and services continued in the remaining structures. During the Soviet years, the church was closed, and services ceased. The former church building was converted into a medical clinic, which was later closed and repurposed for housing. Over time, the residents were relocated, and the building was completely destroyed. In 2001, it was decided to create St. Nicholas Church at the site of the former Assumption Church and St. Nicholas altar in the center of the Stroygorodok settlement on Yaroshenko Street, 14a, where the land was consecrated and a cross was restored.

Since 2002, services were held in a metal container on the consecrated land, next to which there was a vegetable stall. At the request of Priest Vladimir Fastovich, the stall was transferred for reconstruction into a church facility in 2003. Gradually, it was converted into St. Nicholas Church, and the land was leased.

In 2004, the Archdiocesan Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, under the leadership of Metropolitan Lavr, decided to provide financial support for the construction of the church, and funds were deposited into the church account. With this money, the construction of the church continued, which was registered with the Council for Religious Affairs and belonged to the Odessa Diocese. Until 2007, services were held regularly.

Since 2008, with the blessing of Priest Vladimir Fastovich, the St. Nicholas parish transitioned to the Simferopol and Crimean Diocese. On December 17, 2008, Metropolitan Lazar issued decree No. 59 appointing Archpriest Vladimir Fastovich to St. Nicholas Church in the city of Kerch. On November 16, 2008, a church charter was issued and registered with the Council for Religious Affairs.
