The settlement of Pugachevskoye was founded in 1811 as a Cossack outpost by the decree of Tsar Alexander I, who resettled Cossacks from the Krasnokholmskaya and Ilek Cossack communities of the Orenburg region. In 1877, on the territory of the former estate of the Dolgorukov princes, the state Mikhailovsky Horse Breeding Farm was established.

Construction of the church began in 1880 on the grounds of the horse farm. A special mixture with added egg yolk was used in the construction of the temple. Thanks to the generous funding from Prince Dolgorukov, the work progressed quickly, and by 1881 the construction was completed. The consecration of the church took place on March 30, 1881, in honor of Saint Alexius. The church turned out to be very beautiful, especially its interior. The windows are adorned with patterned mosaics, the dome is painted a gentle blue, angels are depicted along the edge, and a large "eye" is located in the center of the dome. A parish school was opened at the church.

Unfortunately, the temple did not serve for long. In 1933, it was closed and then used as a grain storage facility. Despite the fact that today the church is in a state of significant disrepair, it still impresses with its architectural beauty. The walls remain strong, but the wood and plaster have suffered greatly. Almost no frescoes have survived in the interior.
