However, few know that it was founded by a Russian sailor, Ivan Beshoff, who served on the rebellious battleship "Potemkin." His life was full of adventures.

Let's start with the fact that on the morning of June 14, 1905, stale meat was brought to the "Potemkin," which caused discontent among the crew. The spoiled beef became the reason for a mutiny, although it was actually the result of many factors. Ultimately, the sailors who revolted went to Romania and surrendered to the local authorities.

Among them was mechanic Ivan Beshoff. After that, he traveled extensively across Europe, lived in London for a while, where, according to rumors, he met Lenin, and then decided to emigrate to the USA but ended up staying in Dublin, Ireland. There, he got a job as an engineer at Russian Oil Products, which soon went bankrupt, leaving him unemployed. However, Beshoff's keen observation saved him: he noticed that the locals often lacked time for a full lunch, and the idea of a quick and tasty snack would be very welcome.

Thus, Beshoff decided to open his own fast food restaurant, betting on the popular Irish dish, fish and chips. Fried fish and potato wedges appealed to many, and soon the chain of fish restaurants Beshoffs emerged. The sailor's surname from the "Potemkin" became an Irish brand, and Beshoff himself became a millionaire. He retired at the age of 82, passing the business on to his children.
