The Alexandrovsky Bridge, named in honor of the 25th anniversary of Emperor Alexander II's reign, is a railway bridge over the Volga River in the Samara region. It connects the city of Oktyabrsky on the right bank (formerly known as Batraki, Prava Volga, Kostychi) and the village of Obsharovka on the left bank, being part of the railway route Moscow, Syzran, Samara.
The bridge was opened on August 30, 1880, and at that time was considered the longest in Europe, reaching 1436 meters and having 13 spans. It was the first railway bridge crossing over the Volga in its middle and lower reaches.
The bridge project was developed by N. A. Belelubsky for the Batraki-Orenburg railway section, laid in 1877, where a ferry crossing was previously used. The construction was overseen by engineer V. I. Berezin, under whom about 2500 workers were employed. The bridge supports were erected by engineers Reiner and Knorre, while engineer Konstantin Yakovlevich Mikhailovsky was responsible for the assembly. The total construction cost was 7 million rubles at that time.
