The main historical and cultural landmark of the village of Ust-Tsilema is the historical and memorial museum of A.V. Zhuravsky, located in the center of the village at Narodnaya Polyana. The history of the museum began in 1963 when the residents of Ust-Tsilema created its first collection, which included wooden utensils, copper dishes, mammoth bones, hunting rifles, and items of Old Believer culture. All exhibits were initially placed in a specially designated room.

In 1969, the museum was provided with premises in the building of the House of Pioneers and received the status of a People's Museum. In 1976, the museum moved to new premises at Naberezhnaya Street, house 131. In 1978, the House-Memorial of the founder of the Pechora Agricultural Station A.V. Zhuravsky was transferred to Ust-Tsilema from the village of Zhuravsky, and the items and documents of the station were handed over to the local history museum, which was named after A.V. Zhuravsky. The museum occupied the second floor of the building and was a branch of the Vorkuta Interdistrict Local History Museum.

In 1985, the Ust-Tsilemsky Local History Museum of A.V. Zhuravsky became part of the network of state museums in the country. In 1992, the museum occupied the entire building, and permanent exhibitions were created: "The Foundation of Ust-Tsilema and the Development of the Pechora Region in the 16th and 19th Centuries" and "Spiritual and Material Culture of the Pechora Region." During this period, great attention was paid to the preservation, development, and popularization of traditional folk crafts. An Art Crafts School was opened at the museum. In 1990, a branch was opened in the museum, the Pizhem Historical and Ethnographic Museum in the village of Zamezhnaya.

In 1995, the house of the Hero of the Soviet Union Makara Andreevich Babikov was transferred to the A.V. Zhuravsky Museum, becoming a branch of the museum. In 1997, the museum received the status of a historical and memorial museum. In 2009, it became an independent legal entity, MBU "Ust-Tsilemsky Historical and Memorial Museum A.V. Zhuravsky," which included a department of folk arts and crafts. In 2013, a new structural unit, the "Visitor Center," was opened.

Today, the A.V. Zhuravsky Museum is an important stop on the itinerary for tourists and guests of the Republic of Komi visiting the Ust-Tsilemsky District. The museum houses more than 30,000 units of its main and scientific auxiliary collections.
