This estate previously belonged to the Sheremetev counts and is located in the eastern part of Moscow in the Veshnyaki district. The first mentions of the Sheremetev buildings on this land date back to the 16th century. It is known that in 1623 and 1624, there were already a wooden church, a boyar's courtyard, and the houses of serfs here.

The main construction that has survived to this day was carried out in 1756 and 1767. By the design of Count Peter Sheremetev, a large estate was created in Kuskovo with a palace, numerous entertainment facilities, a park, and ponds. The architectural complex was executed in the style of early 18th-century classicism. At that time, the estate covered 230 hectares, of which only 26 remain today. The estate included hunting grounds, groves, meadows, and its own zoo.

During the Patriotic War of 1812, Kuskovo was occupied by French troops. The estate housed the corps of Marshal Ney, and officers of the Napoleonic army were stationed in the palace. After the French left, many valuables from the complex disappeared, and the fabric wallpapers and sculptures in the park were damaged.

In the 1880s, reconstruction was carried out at the estate. The main buildings were restored under the guidance of civil engineer Nikolai Vladimirovich Sultanov, who was invited by Sergey Dmitrievich Sheremetev.

Kuskovo remained in the possession of the Sheremetevs for over three hundred years, until 1917. The Soviet government preserved the main architectural ensemble, and in 1918, Kuskovo became a museum-estate. In 1932, unique collections of porcelain, ceramics, and glass from the State Museum of Ceramics were transferred here. During the Great Patriotic War, barracks for female cadets of the Central School of Sniper Training were located on the estate's territory.

In 2017-2019, the estate was once again restored. Today, Kuskovo is a state museum open to all visitors. The architectural and artistic ensemble of Kuskovo, along with the nearby Moscow Humanities University, forms an important scientific and cultural center in the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow.
