At the Tolstoy Center on Pyatnitskaya Street, house 12, major thematic and collection exhibitions from the museum's collections are held, as well as children's museum programs, meetings with cultural figures, and concerts.

The building, constructed between 1789 and 1795, is a monument of architecture from the late 18th century. It is notable for being part of a complex of buildings, one of which was rented by the young Leo Tolstoy in 1857-1858 after returning from the Crimean War. By that time, he was already a well-known writer. Life in Zamoskvorechye brought him closer to personalities such as A. N. Ostrovsky and A. A. Fet. At Pyatnitskaya, Tolstoy was visited by M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, B. N. Chicherin, and the Ak sakov brothers. Here, the writer actively worked on the works "Cossacks," the stories "The Fallen" ("Albert") and "Three Deaths."
