On November 9, 2019, in Pereslavl-Zalessky, the outstanding individual and talented artist, academician of painting Dmitry Nikolayevich Kardovsky, symbolically "returned" to his estate with ancient linden trees, now the House of Creativity named after him.

Sculptor, honored artist of the Russian Federation and academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrey Balashov, together with architect Vyacheslav Bukhaev, depicted him sitting on a bench, thoughtfully resting his arm on the back. Before the official opening of the monument, guests and residents of the city honored the memory of D.N. Kardovsky by visiting his grave on the territory of the Pereslavl museum-reserve, where the director of the House of Creativity, Vladimir Mikhailov, laid flowers.

The official opening took place in an informal setting. The monument was already accessible for viewing, and the speeches were brief and sincere. Museum-reserve employee Nina Seliverstova called this event epoch-making. It is indeed a masterful work that beautified the territory of the House of Creativity and became the best monument in the city, worthy of tourist attention.

At the opening, Tatyana Boytsova, an honored figure of arts of the Russian Federation, presented the creator of the monument with the highest award of the Union of Artists of Russia, the gold medal named after Alexander Ivanov, to the applause of those gathered.

Great gratitude to Andrey Vladimirovich Balashov for his invaluable contribution to the House of Creativity and the city, which he created, cast, and installed at his own expense.

D.N. Kardovsky was born in the village of Osurovo in the Pereslavl district of Vladimir province. He was an outstanding Russian and Soviet graphic artist, painter, educator, professor, and a full member of the Imperial Academy of Arts, an honored figure of arts of the RSFSR.

Dmitry Nikolayevich was a master of book illustration, creating illustrations for Tolstoy's "Sevastopol Stories" and Chekhov's "Kashtanka." He is also known as a theatrical artist, and a significant part of his life was connected with Pereslavl.
