The Museum of Military Glory opened on August 26, 1977, in Memorial Park, in the building of the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. For over 30 years, it focused on military-patriotic education of youth and commemorating the defenders of the Fatherland.

In 2009, the church was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church, and it was decided to begin construction of a new building for the museum. The opening of the new "Museum of Military Glory" took place on May 7, 2010. For its significant contribution to the preparation and conduct of the Victory anniversary, the team of the "Kolomna Local History Museum" was awarded a commemorative medal and the badge "65 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" from the Russian organizational committee "Victory," headed by the President of Russia.

The new museum has become one of the attractions of Kolomna. It was built thanks to the efforts of the entire city: two months after the decision to create it was made, construction work began, funded by the city budget, as well as donations from local enterprises, organizations, and individuals. The museum has become a symbol not only of military feats but also of the love of Kolomna's residents for their city and their high patriotism.

The museum's exhibition covers the military history of Kolomna from the Middle Ages to the present day, as well as telling about the city's rear life. Materials for the exhibition were collected from the local history museum's funds and family archives of Kolomna residents. A particular pride of the museum is a mortar shovel, a rare exhibit, an experimental development by KBM, which did not gain widespread use.
