According to local elders, the first inhabitants of the villages of Krasnoborskaya and Vertepskaya were Izhma industrialists, such as the Terentyevs, Semyashkins, Smetanins, and others. They came from Izhma to the left bank of the Izhma River for bird and fish catching, having temporary huts here. The area was characterized by dry pine forests, rich game, and a river abundant with fish. On the opposite bank, there were suitable places for agriculture, and on the island, there were good meadows. Attracted by such conditions, the industrialists settled here around 1795 and named the place 'Krasny Bor' due to the red sand on the hill and the shore. However, the arable lands were across the river, so around 1802, some moved to the right bank, where the villages of Krasnoborskaya and Vertepskaya are now located.

This information is taken from the 'Brief Historical Description of the Parish and Churches of the Arkhangelsk Diocese,' published in 1895 in Arkhangelsk. The author of the book, priest V.A. Smirnov, notes that the chapter 'Krasnobor Parish' is based on the description of parish priest V.I. Shilov.

In 1830, Archbishop Aaron visited the Izhma region. The peasants from Krasnobor and Vertepa approached him with a request to allow the construction of a wooden church in the name of the Resurrection of Christ in Krasnobor. They agreed to allocate land for the clergy and donated 2000 rubles for its maintenance. Aaron chose a site for the church and on March 18, 1830, he erected a cross there. However, the ground turned out to be weak, and in 1832, Archbishop Georgy chose a new site for construction. Work began that same year and was completed in 1833. The consecration of the church took place with the participation of two archimandrites, the local dean, and the first parish priest Sergey Ioivlev.

Due to annual erosion of the shore, a new church in the name of the Resurrection of Christ was built, consecrated in July 1878. From the dismantled old church building, a three-tiered bell tower 17 fathoms high was erected in 1880. Matvey and Ivan Kanev from the village of Dibozy bought a bell weighing 51 poods and 30 pounds, while Fyodor Terentyev from Krasnobor purchased another bell weighing 30 poods and 23 pounds with collected funds. The icons were painted by peasant E.Ya. Popov from Yaren district, but the iconostasis was later updated.

In 1862, a rural school opened in Krasnobor, where 52 boys and 5 girls studied in the 1894-1895 academic year.

According to the clerical report for 1917, the church in the name of the Ascension of Christ, consecrated in 1878, and the bell tower on a stone foundation were covered with iron. The church owned 2 dessiatinas and 1800 fathoms of arable land, 22 dessiatinas of hayfields, and 3 dessiatinas of homestead land. The priest that year was Vladimir Alekseevich Kolmakov, who had previously taught for four years at the Diyurskaya rural school. While serving as a priest, he was also a law teacher at the Krasbor higher primary school and a teacher at the Krasnobor one-class parish school. In 1925, at the age of 70, he was deprived of voting rights.

The psalmist was Vladimir Nikiforovich Kanev from Lasta, appointed to this position in 1912. In 1914, he was mobilized into the army, where he joined the Bolshevik party. In January 1918, he, along with other former front-line soldiers, organized a party cell in Krasnobor.

The Krasnobor church was quite wealthy. Seven bells hung in the three-tiered bell tower, the largest of which weighed 69 poods and 38 pounds. The church housed three large silver crosses with 84-carat gold plating, one large Gospel with a gilded copper cover, two large Gospels with silver-plated copper covers, tabernacles, various dishes, censers, candlesticks, and much more made of pure silver. There were many gilded items. The icons of Nicholas the Wonderworker, Seraphim of Sarov, Saint George the Great Martyr, and Savaof were highly valued.
