In 1891, to commemorate the millennium of the Balaklava Georgievsky Men's Monastery in Crimea, a site was chosen for its dependency in Yekaterinodar to support numerous pilgrims. The cornerstone in honor of St. George the Victorious was laid on Sunday, June 18, 1895, after the Liturgy. The church was built over eight years with funds raised through donations from the city's residents. Its solemn consecration took place on November 30, 1903. The church is designed in the style of 17th-century Russian architecture, featuring five onion domes over the central part and a bell tower over the narthex, totaling 11 domes. From 1922 to 1939, most churches in the city and the district's stanitsas of the diocese were closed or destroyed. However, in Krasnodar, the St. George Church remained active, never closing and always holding Divine Liturgy.

In the late 20th century, the honorary mitred priest Father Peter Chaly served in the church, who passed away on May 3, 1998. He dedicated nearly fifty years to serving the Church and was beloved by the parishioners. He was known in Yekaterinodar and the region as a righteous intercessor, a wise advisor, and a kind person. In 1995, the church was visited by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and all Russia. On the church grounds, there is a two-story building that houses a Sunday school, prosphora kitchen, office, refectory, church goods shop, and church library.
