The Resurrection Church in the village of Popovka, now part of the village of Shestikhino, was built over seven years from 1796 to 1804. Its solemn consecration took place on June 25, 1804. The service was conducted by Hieromonk Arseny from the Yugsky Dorotheev Monastery, who also oversaw the construction of the church. For his merits, he was awarded a gold pectoral cross by Emperor Alexander I. In 1901, two new carved gilded iconostases were installed in the winter chapel of the refectory, and in 1916, the wall paintings were updated.

On March 26, 1876, a parish school was opened at the church, where 110 children were educated. In the early 20th century, a charitable shelter for orphaned peasant girls was established.

In 1922, a special liquidation commission confiscated church valuables from all churches.

During the Soviet era, the church continued to operate and was not closed.
