The Pokrovskaya Vodozhskaya and Pokrovskaya Perevesyevskaya deserts were founded by priest Grigory Ivanov from the Church of Nicholas the Wonderworker in Lisino. However, he passed away before completing the church. In 1654, two of his companions took monastic vows in the Spaso-Lomskaya desert, while the third, Averkiy, completed the construction. In the summer of that same year, priest Ioann Neronov, who arrived from the Spaso-Kamenno monastery where he was in exile under Nikon's decree, consecrated the Perevesyevskaya church. This year is noted in church records as the year of the desert's founding. In 1653, the protopsalters Ioann Neronov, Avvakum Petrov, Daniil Kostromskoy, and Loggin Muromsky openly opposed Nikon's reforms and were exiled to various monasteries. The Perevesyevskaya desert, like the Spaso-Lomskaya from which Neronov was exiled, was abolished in 1764. In the early 1970s, there were many villages around the village of Perevesye inhabited by Old Believers. The village of Lesnoye-Petrakovo stood out, completely populated by Old Believers and surrounded by a vast swamp.
