The village of Velikodvorye is first mentioned in the 17th century as part of the Ryazan district of the Struzhanskaya volost. According to the tax records of the Staroryazanskaya stan, by no later than 1676, there was a church of the Resurrection of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ in the village, where priests Timofey Trafimov, Timofey Artemyev, and sexton Gavrilko Stefanov served. At that time, the village had 67 households, but by the beginning of the 18th century, it became deserted, as evidenced by the petition of priest Timofey from August 14, 1699, requesting a tax reduction. Landowners moved their people to other estates, and some villages were transferred to other parishes. In 1726, priest Stefan Semenov disappeared, likely due to difficult conditions. The church, located in the marshy forests of Meshchera, did not even have hayfields.

The old Resurrection church had significantly deteriorated, and in 1783, permission was granted to build a new wooden church with a Friday chapel at the request of priest Andrey Ivanov. Priest Andrey Ioannov was appointed to the new temple.

In 1829, priest Vasily Eliseev requested permission to repair the church roof, but in 1830 he was defrocked, and it is unknown whether the repairs were carried out. He was replaced by Gavriil. In 1867, the church was expanded with the introduction of the Vvedensky chapel and a bell tower was erected. In 1872, a new iconostasis was arranged, the temple was painted, and a wooden fence was built around it. By the end of the 19th century, the parish included the Nechaev-Maltsev factory, now the village of Velikodvorsky, and the Zales glass factory, built in 1886, as well as the villages of Kharlamova, Mordvinova, Zalesye, Malyshkino, and the hamlet of Dubrovka. The famous glassmaker Nechaev-Maltsev annually allocated 96 rubles for the maintenance of the church clergy.

In 1918, the temple burned down. In 1924, parishioners built a camouflaged five-walled hut, the back part of which was slightly marked as the altar part of the temple. The roof was gabled, covered with iron, with a chimney for the only stove. This form of the temple existed until 1955, when priest Pyotr, a native of the Ryazan region, a member of the Holy Council in Moscow, repressed by the Bolsheviks, was appointed. Father Pyotr endured severe trials, was exiled to Solovki, but steadfastly endured all the torments.

During his service, a modest dome with a cross appeared on the roof of the temple, and an open porch was added. In 1972, archpriest Pyotr passed away and was buried behind the altar of the church of St. Paraskeva Friday. In 2000, he was canonized as a confessor.

On October 22, 2000, his relics were discovered and placed in the church of St. Paraskeva Friday. In honor of Saint Pyotr Cheltsov, a wooden chapel has been under construction in the village of Ilyino, Sudogodsky district since 2006.

In the 1980s, the Friday church in the village of Velikodvorye was rebuilt and expanded, a bell tower was constructed, and the facades were covered with planks and painted.
