The only surviving building of the ancient monastery is the five-domed Epiphany Cathedral, built in 1701. It stands on a high base, and the massive square of the church is surrounded on the north and west sides by wide galleries supported by a powerful arcade. To the east, the cathedral is adjoined by the apses of the altars of the lower and upper churches, as well as the Kazan chapel located in the northern gallery. On the west side, above the staircase leading to the galleries, rises an octagonal bell tower on a cubic base with arches. The dimensions of the Epiphany Church are 19 m in length, 13 m in width, and 32 m in height.

In composition, the Epiphany temple resembles earlier monuments of Yaroslavl architecture of the 17th century, such as the Introduction Cathedral of the Tolga Monastery and the Exaltation Cathedral of Romanov-Borisoglebsk. A distinctive feature of the Khopylyovo church is its two-pillar structure: the vaults in the interior rest on two pillars instead of four, as was customary in 17th-century Yaroslavl architecture. This solution freed up the interior space and provided a more cohesive perception of the interior, also influencing the external appearance. The complex system of vaults allowed only the drum of the central dome to be illuminated, leaving the four corner domes blind. To compensate for the lack of lighting, the builders abandoned the gallery on the southern side, adding an additional tier of windows here. The facades of the church are designed in the traditions of the pre-Petrine era, and each facade is characterized by its own uniqueness, determined by compositional features. The southern wall, facing the Volga and lacking a gallery, serves as the main facade and has the richest decorative design. Wide pilasters divide the facade into three parts, intersected by a belt of the floor, with the eastern part being significantly wider than the others. The central zakomara is decorated with a niche-kiot with a keel-shaped frame, while the other two zakomaras were previously painted with frescoes. The richness of the facade is complemented by window frames of three types: with one keel-shaped kokoshnik, with paired kokoshniks, and with paired triangular pediments. Such frames are also used in the decoration of the altar windows of the eastern facade, where the floor belt continues, encompassing the entire perimeter of the building.
