In 1645, the gate church of Euphemius of Suzdal was completed, which resembles the Archangel Cathedral of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin in its layout.

Similar features can be seen in the large communal refectory with the Assumption Church, built in 1648. The facades of the Assumption and Euphemius churches are designed similarly: each side of the square is divided by pilasters into three parts and topped with an elaborate cornice featuring three zakomaras, while the edges of the octagons are separated by corner pilasters and a cornice, above which rise three kokoshniks.

However, there are significant differences between these structures, related to the changes in style and interpretation of interior space in the architecture of that time. In the Archangel Cathedral and the gate church, the tents are open, and their interior space reaches upward. The Assumption Church also has a high space, but it is covered by a closed vault, which gives the interior a calm solemnity, while the tent itself has become a decorative element.

Antip Konstantinov-Vozoulin built the Euphemius Church, and together with his stepfather, the Archangel Cathedral, where the form of the interior space is reflected in the external volume. He also constructed five-domed churches of the canonical type. In the Assumption Church, the architect demonstrated mastery of new structures, applying a closed vault, which became common in Russian architecture of that time.

The completion of the Assumption Church with a tent shows an example of combining old and new constructive elements without losing the organicity of the form. The technique of placing the tent, separated from the interior, was not new, as it had already been used in wooden architecture of the 17th century. Compared to classical tent churches, the composition of the Assumption Church indicates the decline of this type. However, due to the repetition of the three-part division of the facades, the tent is naturally connected with the main volume of the church and other buildings of the monastery.
