The Russian diaspora in Colombia exists, but it is small and divided into four groups. The first group consists of older people, mainly the wives of those who once came from Colombia to the USSR for education and found love there. The second group includes their children, who feel more like Colombians. The third group consists of families who moved due to work. The fourth group includes women and girls who were brought to Colombia by love.

Anastasia Belousova, a teacher of foreign literature in Bogotá, shares her experience: "I moved from Moscow a few years ago, although I am originally from Volgograd. I miss Russian food: black bread, herring, cottage cheese, sour cream. There are few Russians here, so there is no Russian store, and it is difficult to get something. However, there are a few Russian cuisine restaurants run by our compatriots."

In Colombia, there is the Organization of Russian Compatriots named after Y.A. Gagarin, and there is even a Cossack stanitsa. Russians try to support each other. Emigrant Tatiana Borisova says: "I do not share anything intimate with Colombians, although I have many good acquaintances among the locals. I can invite them for my birthday, but I am closer friends with Russians. Russian holidays are more interesting. Colombians gather friends, but the only food is popcorn and at the end a cake, dry and tasteless. Then they dance and get drunk. We like to play games, sing karaoke, hold contests, and our food is tastier and more diverse."

There are also everyday difficulties that Russians do not always understand. One of our compatriots, who moved from St. Petersburg, says: "There is no heating here. It exists, but it is rare. All high-altitude cities, including Bogotá, resemble an eternal St. Petersburg September: rain, bad September, sun, good September. It is cold in the houses. This is not a matter of wealth; our wealthy friends have the same situation. The floors here are not parquet but marble! Combined with cold nights, thin walls, and lack of heating, it seems harsh."

They also tell about such curiosities: "Colombia causes cognitive dissonance for many Russians; opinions are so polar that it is not worth believing anyone. For example, I have a favorite burger place with good meat and vegetables. I have been going there for a year and almost always order the same thing. But every time the local cashier tries to overcharge me by 400-800 pesos (10-20 rubles), and every time she fails. This is abnormal, but such persistence genuinely impresses me and even amuses me."
