The "Russian Tea Room" is a Russian cuisine restaurant located in Manhattan between two skyscrapers: the 77-story Metropolitan Tower and the 60-story Carnegie Hall Tower, on East 57th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenue.

The restaurant was opened in 1927. According to some sources, it was founded by Jacob Zisman, a Polish-Jewish immigrant, while others claim it was established by former members of the imperial ballet troupe as a meeting place for Russian emigrants.

Albertina Rash, known for her involvement in "Russian Art of Chocolate," was the president of the establishment. Her name appears in old photographs of the restaurant, which was originally located at 145 East 57th Street. In 1929, the restaurant moved to the brick building across the street, where it remains today.

In 1933, the management of the restaurant passed to Siberian immigrant Alexander Maifu, who ran it for the next 15 years.

In 1955, the restaurant was acquired by Sidney Kaye, and after his death 12 years later, it passed to his wife, Faith Stewart-Gordon.

The "Russian Tea Room" reopened on November 1, 2006. The interior remained the same, and the exterior has been preserved as it was in 2002. However, some restaurant critics noted that the quality of food and service could be better.
