The restaurant 'Gagripsh', also known as 'Gagrypsh', is one of the symbols of the city of Gagra in Abkhazia. It is located opposite the fountain in the Primorsky Park in the Old Gagra area. The name of the restaurant is associated with the nearby river of the same name.

The wooden building with a clock was delivered in disassembled form from Scandinavia in 1902. It was purchased at the World Exhibition in Paris by the founder of the resort, Prince Alexander of Oldenburg. The building, known as the 'Gagra Dacha', was transported to Abkhazia and assembled on-site without the use of metal fasteners. A building for the palace of Princess Eugenie of Oldenburg was also bought in Paris, which, along with the dacha, formed a single architectural ensemble, but has not survived to this day.

The construction of the building was completed in 1903, and on January 9 of the same year, the grand opening of the Gagra resort took place, which was then called the Gagra Climate Station. Among the notable visitors to the hall were Emperor Nicholas II, writers Anton Chekhov, Ivan Bunin, Maxim Gorky, and singer Fyodor Shalyapin.

Emperor Nicholas II visited this place in May 1912 during a visit to Abkhazia, when he was visiting his relative Alexander of Oldenburg. The emperor was greeted with bread and salt by representatives of the Abkhaz aristocracy led by Alexander Grigoryevich Chachba, the head of the city of Sukhum, who actively participated in the preparations for the celebrations. Guests gathered in the house that is now the restaurant 'Gagripsh', where they had tea with the prince and representatives of the Abkhaz nobility in a close circle. They then drove in cars and took a walk in the park.
