The National Museum of the Udor District is a municipal cultural institution. The district local history museum, operating on a voluntary basis, was opened in August 1985 in honor of the 400th anniversary of the village of Koslan. Its first director was I.M. Kurydakashin, the chairman of the district council of veterans.

In 2000, for the next anniversary of the district, the museum began receiving visitors again, becoming a branch of the House of Culture. In 2005, it received legal entity status and was renamed the Municipal Cultural Institution "Historical and Local History Museum" of the village of Koslan. Since 2007, the museum has been a municipal inter-settlement cultural institution "National Museum of the Udor District," with its branch being the museum in the village of Vazhgot.

The museum's exhibition is dedicated to the life and customs of the Udor Komi people. Among the most significant items in the ethnographic collection are Udor spinning wheels, spinning wheels with Mezen painting, samovars, lamps, clay and birch bark dishes of local production from the 19th and early 20th centuries, hand-woven clothing, cooperage products, antique scales and balances, tools, and blacksmithing products. Of particular interest are painted boxes from 1822, painted chests, a weaving loom from 1899, an Udor spinning wheel from 1876, and rare books. The collection also features a festive costume of an Udor peasant woman and everyday male and female costumes. The interiors of a peasant hut and a barn, as well as a corner for hunting and fishing, vividly demonstrate the lifestyle of the Udor people.

The exhibition "We Will Remain Young in Centuries" tells about the feats of the Udor people during the Great Patriotic War and about internationalist soldiers. Military relics are presented here: newspapers from the war years, documents, front-line letters, and personal belongings of war participants. Every visitor can find information about their relatives who participated in the war and military conflicts. Special attention is given to materials about the sailors of the nuclear submarine "Kursk." Personal belongings of Udor sailors I.V. Loginov and Y.A. Borisov, raised from the bottom of the Barents Sea, testify to tragic pages of history.

The museum's natural science collection includes 15 stuffed birds. The painting collection features works by local artist V.M. Khudyakov, a member of the Union of Masters of the Republic of Komi, as well as a painting by the famous Russian artist E. Kozlov titled "A.E. Vaneev." The collection of visual sources stands out with a collection of photographs from various periods and postcards from the 1960s to the 1980s.
