Museum of Military History 'Strelets Chambers'

The Museum of Moscow Archers 'Strelets Chambers' began its work in 2014 in the building of the Titov Chambers, a monument of architecture from the 17th-18th centuries, which still retains its historical appearance both inside and out. The first owner of the chambers was Semyon Stepanovich Titov, a clerk of the Razryadny Prikaz and a close associate of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. The building was named in his honor. However, the Titov family owned the house only until the mid-18th century, after which its owners changed multiple times. In the 1930s-1940s, communal apartments were located here, where staff members of the nearby House of Writers lived. In 2014, exhibition halls opened in the building, and in November 2015, the museum of military history of the Russian Military Historical Society 'Strelets Chambers' began its work.

The main heroes of the 'Strelets Chambers' are the archers, to whom the main exhibitions of the museum are dedicated. The multimedia exhibitions 'Moscow Archers' and 'Servicemen of the Moscow State' tell about the first regular army of Rus and the development of domestic armed forces in the 17th century. Here, one can see weapons, rare archival documents, large-scale installations and models, reconstructions of uniforms, complemented by artistic paintings and multimedia panoramas. Visitors can feel like archers by loading a musket, playing a drum, or learning to write according to ancient Russian canons. The 'Strelets Chambers' also hosts exhibitions on military history and regular events: meetings, scientific lectures, creative evenings, holidays, and cultural marathons such as 'Museum Night', 'Bibliophile Night', and 'Night of the Arts'.
