The V.O. Klyuchevsky Museum was opened in 1991 in a house on the former Popovka Street, now renamed Klyuchevsky Street. It was here that the future historian spent his childhood and youth from 1851 to 1861.

This memorial house recreates the cultural environment that surrounded Klyuchevsky from early childhood and influenced the formation of his worldview. The museum's exhibition accurately reflects the modest lifestyle of the family after their move to Penza: a bench, a wardrobe, a shelf with clay and metal dishes, and household items. Rare preserved items from the Penza home are carefully stored here, such as a striking wall clock, an inkwell, and a window frame from the Klyuchevsky house.

The idea of creating the museum belongs to Georgy Myasnikov. When Solzhenitsyn visited Penza, he wished to see only this museum and bequeathed to be buried next to the historian at the Don Cemetery.
