The Museum of Printmaking is located in the center of Moscow, in the historic building of the Gostiny Dvor, where a new art quarter has been created since 2019 by government decision. The idea of establishing the museum arose after several years of operating as a gallery specializing in print graphics, such as lithographs, silk-screens, etchings, posters, and prints created by artists of the Russian diaspora and renowned Western masters of the 20th century. This little-known aspect of visual art in Russia reveals not only the names of talented artists but also an entire philosophy based on democratic ideas, aiming to make works of art accessible to a wide audience.

The main criteria for selecting works for the museum are their artistic value, originality, and the skill of the authors. The collection features works by the most famous artists of the 20th century, such as lithographs by Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Jean Cocteau, Egon Schiele; silk-screens by Erté, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Victor Vasarely, as well as works by masters whose names are now unjustly forgotten: works by Georges Braque, Bernard Buffet, Osip Zadkine, Eivind Earle, Richard Lindner.

Major domestic museums pay little attention to print graphics, so the Museum of Printmaking strives to influence the formation of a quality cultural environment.
