The Moscow Trading and Construction Joint Stock Company was founded in 1899 in Moscow by entrepreneur and banker Y. A. Reck and honorary citizen of Kursk I. I. Zeifert. Yakov Reck became the director of the Company, and I. I. Zeifert and A. K. Luther also joined the Board. This Company became the second to be established after the Northern House-Building Society, founded a year earlier by S. I. Mamontov. Researcher of Moscow architecture M. V. Nashokina notes that Yakov Reck saw the benefit in Mamontov's idea and decided to include the construction of luxurious mansions in his business.

In the promotional materials of the new society, it was stated that it was engaged in the construction of various facilities, including rental houses, mansions, factories, and plants, as well as the trade of building materials and the arrangement of sewage and water supply systems. The architectural office was headed by Lev Kekushev, who had previously worked at the Northern House-Building Society and participated in the design of the Metropol Hotel.

One of the goals set by Reck for the Company was to introduce modern Western achievements into Moscow construction: "we need to beautify Moscow with stylish houses equipped with the technical conveniences of Western European cities while preserving the national color." Most of the Company's buildings were executed in the popular Art Nouveau style at the time, which Muscovites referred to as "Reck's style." The Company acquired vacant or dilapidated plots in central Moscow, divided them into parts, and built buildings "turnkey." In the mid-1900s, Y. A. Reck was replaced as head of the Company by entrepreneur I. P. Isakov from St. Petersburg. The Company ceased to exist in 1914.

The Company's office was located in its own building at the corner of Milyutinsky and Sretensky lanes.
