The Storehouse Tower, a round tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, is located in the high part between the Dmitrievskaya and Nikolskaya towers.

According to the Solikamsk Chronicle, the tower was laid on September 1, 1500, and was originally called Tverskaya, which is related to the word "tverdy", meaning fortress. In the 16th to 18th centuries, it was renamed Alekseevskaya in honor of the church of Saint Metropolitan Alexius, built nearby but not preserved to this day.

Later, the tower was renamed to Tseyhgausnaya, meaning warehouse, and then to Storehouse, as it began to be used for storing ammunition. In the 18th century, the tower was equipped with one cannon on a carriage and two wall cannons for firing over the parapet. At that time, under its stone vaults were stored 64 heavy fortress guns, 884 kilograms of cannonballs, as well as cannons, cannon carriages, gunpowder, and other supplies. Additionally, tools for city stone masons were stored within the tower's walls.

In 1889, the tower's premises housed an archive of documents collected by the Nizhny Novgorod Scientific Commission, and after World War II, it served as a fuel warehouse. The structure has suffered from fires multiple times, but was restored during the 1953 renovation. Currently, the Storehouse Tower consists of four tiers, with its first, lowest floor featuring embrasures located underground. Restorers have reconstructed a trapezoidal extension at the tower's walls for ventilating the lower tier.

Before the invention of electricity, good oil was stored on the first tier for lighting the city sidewalks. Above the vaults of the first floor is the second tier with combat chambers. The third tier houses a stone tent, while the fourth floor, surrounded by battlements and topped with a tent, served as a combat platform. From the combat path of the Storehouse Tower, one can ascend to the Kremlin wall and stroll along it. Since 1973, a café with the same name has been operating in the tower building.
