The stone temple of Saint Simeon the God-receiver was built in the Zverin Monastery in 1467 on the site of a wooden church with the participation of Archbishop Jonah, whose image can be seen in the frescoes of the temple.

The frescoes depicting saints have been preserved in excellent condition and represent a unique church calendar in Russia, executed in 15th-century painting. The Church of Simeon the God-receiver has one apse, four pillars, and one dome, without a choir, with a sub-church and an eight-pitched roof. On the western side, a narthex from the 19th century adjoins the temple. Previously, the entrance to the church was only from the west, and one ascended to the second floor via a wooden porch.

The entrance to the sub-church was located under the porch on the western side, and in the 18th century, a second door appeared from the north. The vaults, supporting arches, and drum rest on the walls and pillars. The windows are adorned with "eyebrows," and the main decor is concentrated in the upper part of the central third of the facade. The church was plastered and whitewashed, and the roof was covered with sheet steel.

The two-story structure is an architectural feature of the temple, which is relatively small in itself. The church was located on the second floor, while the first floor served as utility rooms. The division into two floors inside is not expressed on the facades, which have a traditional three-part vertical division.

The original three-lobed completion of the temple was replaced with an eight-pitched roof during renovations. During the restoration in the 1960s under the guidance of architect G. M. Shtender, the 17th-century eight-pitched covering was preserved. At that time, the original shapes of the windows, portal, and decor were also restored.

Currently, the entrance to the temple is through the western annex from the mid-19th century, whereas initially, wooden steps led to the second floor from the western side.

Today, the church functions as a museum object and is open for visits. An exhibition titled "Architectural Monuments of the Nerevsky End" is located in the western annex of the church.
