The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located on the ancient road from Borovsk to the Holy Pafnutiev Borovsky Monastery, rising on a hill above the Protva River. Thanks to this fortunate location, its elegant silhouette is visible from various corners of the city. The modern building of the church was constructed in stages. In 1701, there was a wooden church here, and in 1708, with the funds of parishioners, a stone single-domed church in the late baroque style was built. The architectural composition includes an octagon on a two-light square with a rounded apse. The dome is adorned with a drum topped by an onion-shaped cupola. The window openings are framed with brick surrounds featuring broken pediments. Currently, this part of the church is used as a summer church, as it is not heated. Later, a refectory and a three-tiered bell tower in the classical style were built. The refectory, with a gable roof and pediments, serves as a winter church since it has stove heating. The bell tower is decorated with a high dome, and the drum supports a spherical cupola.

The church has three altars: in the church built in 1708, the altar in the name of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a five-tiered gilded carved iconostasis in the baroque style; in the warm refectory, the altar in the name of the holy evangelist John the Theologian on the southern side and the altar in the name of Saint Basil the Great on the northern side.

In 1840, Moscow merchant I.V. Volkov built a charitable house next to the church, consisting of two houses and a chapel, but it was dismantled in the 1930s due to dilapidation. Next to the church is an ancient cemetery with gravestones from the 18th century and marble monuments from the 19th century.

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Roshcha is one of the few that remained open during the Soviet years. After the revolution, local residents did not allow the church to be closed, and it operated with small interruptions until 1941. After the Victory, services were held continuously.
