In the territory of the modern municipal district "Bibirevo," there were previously three villages: Bibirevo, Neklyudovo, and Altufyevo, as well as the villages of Podushkino, Yurlovo, and Saburovo. The residents of these places engaged in agriculture and handicrafts, such as making decorative trays and knitting stockings and socks. Hunting for bears and grouse was also common here. In the late 19th century, the artist K.A. Korovin, passionate about hunting, visited the Chermyanka River in the area of the village of Medvedkovo to hunt ducks and enjoy nature.

The history of the Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh and the village of Bibirevo is connected with the Moscow Ascension Convent, founded by Grand Duchess Evdokia, the wife of Prince Dmitry Donskoy. In the early 18th century, there were twenty households in Bibirevo, including those of the monastery and livestock. The clergy consisted of a priest and a deacon, who received their sustenance from the monastery. The wooden church gradually deteriorated, and the abbess of the Ascension Monastery, Mother Eustolia (Lodygina), allocated funds for the construction of a new church. In 1732, a new wooden church with a bell tower was built.

Deacon Feodor Sokolov, in his article, states that the Annunciation Church was completed in 1738; however, archival documents indicate a different year. In August 1755, Abbess Elena (Rzhevskaya) appealed to the Moscow Spiritual Consistory with a request to consecrate the new wooden church in Bibirevo, which was done in the following months. Icons were transferred from the old church, and some were gifted by the sisters of the Ascension Monastery.

In 1859, the church underwent a major renovation, and twenty years later, when the wooden Annunciation Church had deteriorated, it was decided to build a new stone church. Construction began on August 8, 1893, with architect O.V. Rybin working pro bono. V.P. Kalinin provided bricks for the construction. On May 23, 1894, the cross was raised on the new church, and the consecration took place on August 21, 1894.

After the revolution, church life was disrupted. On the night of August 16, 1921, church valuables were stolen from the temple. In 1931, a collective farm was established in Bibirevo, and by 1935-1936, both churches were closed. The wooden church was dismantled, and the stone one was used as a warehouse. In the late 1980s, the church faced destruction due to metro construction, but it was saved.

In 1989, the church was handed over to the community of believers. In January 1990, Father Peter Davydov became the rector, thanks to whom the church was consecrated on March 24, 1990. In 1992, a brick house for the clergy was built, and a covered porch was added. In August 2002, Hieromonk Sergiy (Rybsko) became the rector, and daily services began in the church.
