The first mention of the village of Prokhodnoye dates back to the 17th century. In 1879, a stone church was built here. In 1886, a school was opened in the priest's house. In 1900, with funds from the zemstvo and parishioners, a church-parish school was erected. By 1909, the church was regularly attended by 836 parishioners.

With the arrival of Soviet power, the church was desecrated and closed in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Currently, a plaque is installed on the partially ruined church, indicating its status as a state-protected architectural monument.

In the summer of 2007, a cornerstone for a new church was consecrated in the village. The wooden church was built according to the design of Belgorod architect L. Kolesnikova. Six bells for the bell tower were made in the workshop of Balyasnikov. The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin was consecrated on October 14, 2008, by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol.
