In 2000, a plot of land was allocated in the Varavino-Factoria district for the construction of a church. The Orthodox community was also given a wooden single-story building located next to this plot. Previously, it served as a parish prayer house where services were regularly held. The first Liturgy in this place took place in 2002 on Christmas. The rector of the new parish, by the blessing of Bishop Tikhon of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory, was appointed Hieromonk Feodosiy (Nesterov) from the Artemiev-Verkolskiy Monastery.

In 2001, Bishop Tikhon consecrated the first crown and cornerstone of the church on the banks of the Northern Dvina in the Varavino-Factoria district of Arkhangelsk. This event marked the beginning of the construction of the church in honor of the holy righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky, which became a dependency of the Artemiev-Verkolskiy Monastery.

In 2004, on the opposite side of the road from the church construction site, where before the revolution there stood a church in honor of the Holy Martyr Victor, a cross was erected. During the Soviet era, this church was used as a pioneer house, and in the 1960s it was dismantled for bricks. On November 12, 2006, the bells were consecrated and installed on the bell tower of the church. The bells, cast in Tutayev in the Yaroslavl region at the workshop of Vladimir Shuvalov using ancient technology, were purchased with funds raised by the parishioners.

In February 2007, Bishop Tikhon performed the great consecration of the church in honor of the holy righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky.

The wooden tent church with a bell tower, built in the traditions of ancient Russian wooden architecture according to the design of architect A. B. Barbanov, represents an "octagon on a square," crowned with a tent. The church is adorned with elegant carvings on the roof, and the dome is covered with aspen shingles.

With the increase in the number of parishioners, the church ceased to accommodate everyone wishing to attend services. Architect E. A. Yaskorskaya developed a project to expand the church by constructing two extensions on the northern and southern sides. For this, two log cabins were built, a pile field was created, and cuts were made in the walls. As a result of the reconstruction, the area of the church doubled.
