In 1908, merchant and architect Apollos Pravdin built a beautiful mansion for his family. At that time, it was customary to register real estate in the wife's name, so the building is known in guidebooks as the Pravdina House.

The facade of the mansion, designed in the Art Nouveau style, is adorned with elements of the Austrian Secession: a three-part composition of the entrance in the style of Joseph Olbrich and stylized images of roses reminiscent of the works of artist Hans Christiansen.

The Pravdins lived in this house for a short time, and in 1910 it was purchased by the famous Moscow merchant and race car driver Sergey Alexandrovich Kaptsov. In September 1912, he participated in the St. Petersburg-Moscow-Sevastopol race in a "Mercedes 10/20 PS" and won the Imperial Prize for first place in Category IV. In addition to selling German brand cars, Kaptsov organized a workshop where he installed bodies of his own production on Opel and Mercedes chassis and sold them to wealthy Muscovites. He was known as a speedster, and in 1911, the magazine "Avtomobilist" mentioned him in a list of offenders for colliding with a cab.

Sergey Alexandrovich, his wife Ekaterina Ivanovna, and their children Nina and Alexander lived in this house until February 1918. Later, it housed the Credit Society and the insurance fund of the Moscow district.

Muscovites remember that a scene from the film "The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed" was filmed at the Pravdina House, where Gleb Zheglov tossed a wallet to Kirpich.

The Pravdina House, the last historical house in the Samoteki area, long retained its original appearance. However, a recent major renovation led to the loss of decor and changes in the shape of the bay window. A large attic window distorted the silhouette of the building, and on the end wall facing Olympic Avenue, the original omega-shaped window disappeared and a new metal door appeared. It is now difficult to say how much of the original vestibule finish, mentioned in guidebooks, has been preserved.
