Фото 1
In the village of Dorofeevo, there is a stone Assumption church with a bell tower, built in 1812 with funds from the parishioners. The fence around the church is also stone, with an iron grille, and nearby is a cemetery. The church has three altars: in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God, the holy apostles Peter and Paul, and the holy Cosmas and Damian. It is 180 versts to Kostroma and 100 to Makaryevo. The nearest churches are: the Archangel church in the village of Kruty, one verst away, the Ilyinsky church in the Old Pogost, the Transfiguration church in the village of Mokronosovo, and the Nativity of the Mother of God church in Yakunkino, seven versts away.

Until 1708, there was the Assumption-Dorofeevo men's hermitage at this site, known since 1613 when it was headed by the builder Savvaty. According to a description from 1618, the hermitage had two wooden churches: in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God and Cosmas and Damian. In 1656, the hermitage was assigned to the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery.

Since 1938, the church was not functioning. However, in October 1990, the Assumption church in Dorofeevo reopened for parishioners, and in 1991, its restoration began.
