The Church of Stephen, built in 1716 on the site of a wooden structure from 1655, completed the architectural ensemble of the Annunciation and Trinity Monasteries. It is located on the southern side of the Annunciation Monastery and, until the boundaries were established according to the 1788 plan, faced Uspenskaya and Tsvetnovskaya streets. When viewed from the south, the Church of Stephen and the bell tower are symmetrically arranged relative to the Annunciation Church.

The architecture of the Church of Stephen is characterized by modesty and small dimensions. It acquired its modern appearance after reconstruction in 1836-1839, when a two-story annex was added to the western side. The first floor is a rectangle with two arches, one of which is shallow. To the east is the room that housed the monastery library. The arches are decorated with columns and balusters in the form of pilasters, which rest on pedestals with deep niches framed by a cornice and a base.

The interior space is covered by a vaulted ceiling, and the single-apse altar has a dome. The facade of the church is simple, with the walls divided into two parts by three pilasters resting on a cornice made of several beams. The crowning cornice consists of brick teeth and a simple profile, above which three kokoshniks with slightly raised outer beams are installed on each side.

On the four-pitched roof, a cylindrical blind drum is secured, decorated with hanging columns connected by arches. It is similar in size and details to the corner drums of the Annunciation Cathedral.
