The Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God Odigitriya is located behind the bell tower, opposite the church of the Venerable Zosima and Savvatiy of Solovki, and it closes the northwestern corner of the cathedral square. It was built in 1746 according to the design of architect D. V. Ukhtomsky and consecrated in 1753.

The church is small, round in plan, with a harmonious dome and a light lantern adorned with a miniature figured head and cross. This is a beautiful example of Elizabethan Baroque architecture, which is remarkably harmoniously integrated into the ancient ensemble of the monastery. The turquoise walls of the church are decorated with alternating white paired pilasters and carved white stone frames of two tiers of windows. The temple is surrounded on four sides by staircases leading along its walls.

Unfortunately, the original iconostasis of the church has not survived. Currently, it features a remarkable carved iconostasis from the dismantled Moscow church of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa on Pyatnitskaya Street, created in 1748 according to the design of D. V. Ukhtomsky.

Services in the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God are held on its feast day, as well as on Sundays and holidays. In the niche on the eastern wall is a carved stone icon, a copy of the main shrine of the church, the miraculous monastery image of Odigitriya, which is now located in the Art Museum.
