The village of Lipki is located 6 versts from the district town of Vyazniki and 118 versts from the city of Vladimir. According to the scribal books of the Yaroslavl volost from 1637-1647, the village of Lipki was listed in the estate of the wife and children of Prince Shakhovsky, as well as I. Zasetsky. By 1677, a church appeared in Lipki, which is confirmed by the patriarchal tax books, where it is stated: "a new church of the Most Holy Theotokos Odigitria has arrived in the estate of the steward I. I. Zasetsky, which was the village of Lipki."

In 1727, with the funds of landowner Avdotya Semyonovna Streshneva, the head and roof of the church were renovated. From 1804 to 1812, a stone temple was built in Lipki to replace the wooden church. This temple has two altars: the main one dedicated to the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, and in the warm refectory, in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. The ancient Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God with a silver riza is especially venerated by the parishioners.

The parish is staffed by a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance amounts to up to 450 rubles a year, obtained from land and for services and sacraments. The houses of the clergy are located on church land and belong to them. The parish includes the village of Lipki and the villages of Bykovka, Lipki, Chudinovo, and Nazarikha, where the clerical records list 139 households, 409 men, and 491 women. A church-parish school operates at the church.
