In 1800, parishioners built a stone five-domed church with a bell tower, replacing the previous wooden one that was located a verst from the village of Veski. The new church had three altars: one for Saint Nicholas, one for Saint Dmitry of Rostov the Wonderworker, and one for the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God. In 1829, merchants Nabilkov built a stone single-domed Trinity church on the site of the old wooden church, known as the cemetery church, as their ancestors are buried there. The parish cemetery is located near the village church. The Nabilkovs also established a charitable institution for 12 people of the spiritual rank, funded by the interest from their donation of 8,500 rubles in silver.

A verst from the village of Veski is the Spasskaya Mill, named in honor of the male Spassky Monastery that once stood there. Its location is marked by a stone pillar. After the monastery was abolished, some of its icons were transferred to the Borisoglebsky Monastery, while others went to the Church of the Holy Trinity on the Bor in the Borisoglebsk settlement.

The church of the village is associated with 36 desyatinas of land and a parish from six settlements. A school has been operating here since 1872.

According to a folk legend, the village got its name from Prince Veska, who is said to have lived here in ancient times.
